Weight reduction as a result of integrated bearing technology

From race track to the street: In development and manufacturing of components for race cars which are later also used in serial cars HIRSCHMANN is in the pole position already for many years. Car manufacturers as Porsche, Audi, BMW or VW trust in high-end spherical bearing technology of HIRSCHMANN. In racing and for high-value street cars this technology has proved itself already many times.
 
Weight reduction is the key issue of vehicle construction, because it means better acceleration values and less energy consumption.

Our contribution to this is that HIRSCHMANN spherical bearings are directly integrated into the casting, forging or milling part. This technology is used i.e. in cup and street version of Porsche 911 GT3 and in 918 Spyder.

Supporting and sliding ball joints for automotive engineering

Further typical applications are integrated supporting and sliding ball joints, which i.e. are used in the 1-litre car XL1 of VW.
HIRSCHMANN supporting and sliding ball joints are designed for high radial and axial load transmissions. A low friction coefficient and a small deformation under load characterize these bearings. Further characteristics are a low weight and a wider temperature range for use.


Customer-oriented full solution from one provider

HIRSCHMANN SPHERICAL BEARINGS offers project-based R&D, prototyping and serial production with initial sampling of complete assembly unit from one provider, including design and manufacturing of individual suitable sealing. Because of close cooperation between us and car manufacturers or OEM we are able to develop and produce spherical bearings according to customer’s requests in racing and apply them later on to serial cars. On base of load spectrum and geometrical frame data we develop the best products – either as rolled-in or as integrated bearings. Our design freedom ensures our customers that they get the best possible bearing technology.
